SST (serum separator tube). Red-top, tiger-top, or any other SST acceptable.

Draw blood in SST tube. Ensure proper mixing of clot activator by inverting the tube 5-10 times immediately after collection. Let stand for 30-60 minutes (until blood has clotted). Centrifuge the tube at 2,000 - 3,000 RPM for 10 minutes. Store at 4 - 8 degrees celsius.

Patient should be fasted for 8-12 hours prior to specimen collection
